How to Store Medicines Safely at Home

Heat, humidity and light degrade medicines faster than expiry dates suggest. A few rules keep them effective — and out of the wrong hands.
- Cool & dry — bathroom cabinets are the worst spot; a bedroom drawer is better.
- Original packaging — keeps the label, batch and leaflet with the medicine.
- Refrigerated items — insulin and some syrups need 2–8°C; never freeze.
- Away from children — high shelf or locked box, always.
- Check expiry monthly — dispose via pharmacy take-back, never the toilet.
